An exciting opportunity to join a Global manufacturing group who are going through an exciting period of growth, change and investment. They are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to assist & lead individual projects in order to deliver significant improvements to quality, cost, and delivery through a solid foundation of technical expertise and continuous improvement. This encompasses the development of sampling protocols, test methods, product specifications and measurement of production capabilities across the breadth of incoming critical raw materials, production intermediates and finished goods to ensure we drive raw material and finished goods performance. Fundamental to this is a clear understanding of the critical drivers that influence production capability and the needs of their diverse customer base.   

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support in developing, documenting, validating and implementing a testing strategy (frequency and methodology) for critical raw materials, including qualification of new/alternative raw materials.
  • Support in developing, documenting, validating and implementing a testing strategy (frequency and methodology) for identified production intermediates and finished products.
  • Establish current production capabilities and tolerances and work to align these with customer expectations.
  • Support in developing a comprehensive specification of process capabilities and ensure that these are reflected in the NPD process.
  • Provide trend analysis for key raw materials in order that the business can adequately rate suppliers and leverage its purchasing position. 
  • Provide trend analysis on key measurement criteria on selected raw materials, production intermediates and finished goods to support continuous improvement in product quality across all production processes.
  • Provide trend analysis on key measurement criteria of finished goods to support customer Quality and Supplier Performance Audits.
  • Ensure the timely completion of internal and external non-compliance report investigation in conjunction with department heads to agreed key performance indicators. Confirming robust corrective and preventative action through review and negotiation with Department Managers.
  • Development and validation of customer aligned test methods and tolerances.
  • Provide knowledge, skills and support to the NPD and NPI teams to ensure that Quality Assurance is a key component in the risk mitigation strategy during new product introduction.
  • Identify opportunities to drive down Cost of Poor Quality through the site, looking to meet and exceed targets.
  • Produce reports for the management team as and when required.
  • Participate in and support during 3rd Party audits.
  • Ensure compliance with all documented quality systems, as per business requirements
  • Carry out internal audits to support the business quality systems, agreeing effective corrective and preventative actions with department heads where appropriate.
  • Supporting continuous improvement activities: Utilise DFMEA/PFMEA and other quality assurance risk analysis techniques in order to minimise potential risk during manufacturing activity.
