The Centre for Engineering Education & Development (CeeD) is a not-for-profit organisation that brings business, industry and academia together for a mutual exchange of knowledge, experience and expertise to bring about tangible improvements to business operations.

The pedigree of CeeD is very high with its inception 14 years ago and having built a reputation for an industry led Peer to Peer best practice sharing model that is about practical and actionable learning and cover a wide range of topics such as Lean Manufacturing, Performance Measurement and Management, Innovation, Process Excellence, Health & Safety, HR, Inter Company Training, Procurement and Supply Chain, Aerospace and Defence, Energy, Leadership, Project Management and the Environment.

Delivery is pan-Scotland with over 400 organisations regularly participating in CeeD events and workshops and a strong base of 200 Sponsoring & Standard members at the core.

Out with the thematic workshops and 1-2-1 membership support CeeD has a highly respected management and people development programme, Growth500 a programme that focuses on the ‘how’, not the ‘why’ and so delivers the very practical information needed to develop your own company’s growth plans and to then deliver that growth.  We call this our non-accredited, 8-day practical “mini-MBA” without all the reading, homework or weekends away. We have just started to pivot some of this into Growth5.0 (our digital solution for today’s social distancing and also our Leadership Development Programme “Leading from the Front” , aimed at more senior leaders in our membership.

Not content with the meeting the successful challenge of completely pivoting the business for now, to be fully digital in its delivery and support for members , CeeD have just successfully secure a 3 year contract to deliver the Advancing Manufacture Challenge – Cluster Builder (AMCF-CB)

A programme to connect up an exciting investment from Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise (SE) and Highlands & Islands Enterprise (HIE) that will bring together a number of new centres of excellence in manufacturing technology and expertise to support Scotland’s SMEs grow, innovate and become more productive.

CeeD,s AMCF CB activity will be at the core of this providing connections networking and signposting businesses as well as providing 1-2-1 advice and support to the manufacturing and engineering community in Scotland and direct close working with these new centres as well as the National Manufacturing Institute for Scotland (NMIS).

CeeD are looking to support this additional function by hiring additional experienced staff to manage the programme and ensure that it is drawing on the already well respected core services, thus ensuring a highly value-added leverage opportunity and providing a continued legacy and sustainability of the network of companies and institutions (i.e. Cluster Building).

They are therefor looking to recruit an experienced Programme Manager to lead the project over a 34 month period.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Relationship & account management leadership for AMCF &  Manufacturing community in Scotland
  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback knowledge/information on market and opportunity & trends.
  • Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels.
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and network channels that will lead to an increase in opportunities.
  • Using knowledge of the market and partners to identify and develop opportunities propositions and connections for knowledge transfer for AMCF and network agencies through referrals and signposting
  • Management of project/programme (knowledge of funding programmes such as European and wider government– policy, execution and reporting are desirable)
  • Submit weekly monthly and annual progress reports and ensure data is accurate.
  • Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the company’s CRM or other management system.
  • Forecast targets and ensure they are met in relation to KPIs and SMART Targets.
  • Track and record activity.
  • Work with event/marketing staff to deliver events and communication to target companies and partners.
  • Ensure all team members represent the company in the best light.
  • Research and develop a thorough understanding of the manufacturing and engineering sectors and the specific AMCF focus themes
  • Understand CeeD goals and purpose to continue to enhance the company’s performance.
  • Write reports and make presentations to customers and senior management
  • Advise and report on external activities in line with agreed objectives.
  • Be primarily responsible for external contact with the defined customers/ prospective customers. (AMCF projects, Manufacturing company base and support agencies)
  • Ensure that response and feedback given to each customer and is in line with the customer specific Service Level Agreement (if one should be agreed).
  • Ensure the CRM system is updated with pertinent and relevant customer contact information

  • An excellent communicator, both written and verbal with the ability to build effective relationships with people of all levels.
  • Skilled and intelligent negotiator
  • Passion for the engineering & manufacturing sector(s) and technologies
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A confident, motivated and tenacious presenter with the ability to work independently
  • Strong organisational, prioritisation and workload management skills
  • Ability to operate at all levels, including ‘C’ suite relationships
  • Knowledge and experience of running government funded projects (including European funding)
