Production Controller/Operations Manager

Nine Twenty are delighted to be supporting our longstanding Manufacturing client in their need for a Production Controller to join their operations team - reporting directly to the Operations & Performance Director you will manage a tactical and strategic role contributing to the success of the UK Production Operations. 

To make this role a success you will come from a Production/Manufacturing background with a strategic & operational mindset bringing strong skills and experience in change management, cultural transformation & leadership. 

Responsibilities are but not limited to:

  • You will plan, manage & improve the production plant and will be responsible for all aspects of manufacturing. 
  • You will come with experience in a quality/safety focused, high volume and fast paced manufacturing environment. 
  • You will have a strong operational mindset to address the breadth of this role  including resource planning, continuous improvement (CI), production process, plant hygiene, automation, safety, quality, employee engagement and productivity.
  • You will assess the current capabilities of the production facility including people, processes and systems. After an initial hands-on approach to gain a full appreciation of the current situation you will then begin implementing an agreed strategy with the Operations Director for short and medium terms improvements, ensuring delivery as sustained success.
  • You will Developing a culture of continuous business improvement including setting and driving quality improvements and standards, championing H&S, ISO Quality, and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • You will set clear goals for productivity and product quality
  • You will oversee product flow and implement new processes improve efficiencies & growth 
  • You will develop, coach, mentor & lead teams 
  • You will champion the delivery of training & skills strategy 
  • You will deliver all KPI's for the teams under Production Controller 

Skills/experience required: 

  • Manufacturing/Production Leadership experience - being able to inspire, coach, mentor & develop teams at different levels
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement, Change Management & Cultural Transformation
  • Experience in Manufacturing/FMCG/Process environment 
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing performance improvements 
  • Knowledge and experience in a continuous production environment 
  • Knowledge of current Health & Safety Legislation
  • Experience of implementing lean manufacturing practices (Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping...)
  • Strong ability to engage across all levels and build successful relationships in the UK and globally
