What are my Key Duties and Responsibilities?

  • As a Process Operator you will safely and efficiently operate the main process production areas, consisting of a multi-stage batch fermentation process and continuous distillation plant, as part of a shift rota (day and night shifts)
  • You will have a process/manufacturing background and will naturally and strictly follow the instructions as outlined in site procedures, always ensuring compliance and quality
  • You will coordinate and schedule the unit operations of the plant to ensure that the plant runs efficiently and continuously.
  • You will always display safe and hygienic working practices and will ensure that the requirements of the Integrated Management System are strictly followed to ensure compliance with H&S, Environmental and other legal requirements to produce safe products and co-products which meet strict quality parameters. 
  • You will understand the requirements of REACH, SEPA, FEMAS and COSHH requirements and apply these in your role.
  • You will operate, manage and continually contribute to the optimisation of the production processes, from raw material intake to outgoing product

Do you have the following Skills, Experience and Qualifications?

  • You will have previous solvent/chemical/distillation production experience or experience of operating a plant within a related manufacturing sector
  • You will have extensive experience using a SCADA system. As the plant is highly automated, you must be proficient and confident in the use of information technology and automation systems You will be comfortable operating in a dynamic role where processes change and you need to adapt quickly.  This involves creation and updating site operating procedures and communicating these with the wider operations team. Ideally you will have an understanding or have knowledge of hygienic/sterile process/manufacturing operations and environment, or show an awareness of the importance of such an environment and be willing and able to learn
  • From your previous experience you will be able to demonstrate your knowledge and experience of working strictly within defined safety, environmental, quality and feed safety standards and procedures
  • Additional skills that are advantageous: Scientific and/or engineering background; awareness/experience of continuous distillation; issuing permits and safe isolation of plant; COSHH trained; FLT licence;
