The Role

Reporting to the CTO and working with technical staff, our new PHP Developer will be analysing user requirements and transforming them into production ready applications. This will be driven by some TDD/BDD best practices.

 

Passion, enthusiasm, pride and a strong sense of ownership are attributes that a PHP Developer should continually display. Interaction with colleagues and managers from technical and non-technical backgrounds is a key feature of the role and you will be required to comfortably engage with staff and senior management to discuss new ideas and facilitate changes for new business while serving existing business needs.

 

Responsibilities

  • Your key responsibilities & duties will include, but will not be limited to:
  • Assist all users with any logged IT related incident when called upon;
  • Write clear technical documentation to accompany new features;
  • Creating technical specifications through various in-house workshops such as event mapping, feature mapping and risk mapping;
  • Writing operational documentation with technical authors;
  • Expand existing software to meet the changing needs of our key demographics;
  • Writing and testing code, refining and rewriting it as necessary;
  • Developing existing applications by analysing and identifying areas for modification;
  • Focus on creating fault-tolerant programming;
  • Integrating existing software products and getting incompatible platforms to work together;
  • Create scalable, automated solutions for our customers;
  • Write tests for existing and new code to ensure compatibility and stability;
  • Consulting business owners and colleagues concerning the maintenance and performance of applications with a view to writing or modifying current applications;
  • Maintaining applications by monitoring and correcting software defects;
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies; &
  • Stay up-to-date with new product developments

Requirements

  • Proven experience in web application development;
  • Experience in backend programming with PHP and NodeJS;
  • Proven experience using modern front-end frameworks/libraries (React, VueJS);
  • Experience with front-end build systems (Vite, Webpack);
  • You are comfortable consuming and developing REST APIs;
  • You’ll have SCSS/CSS and HTML development experience;
  • Knowledge of technical SEO;
  • Familiarity with software like Figma, Sketch and content management systems;
  • Familiarity with browser testing and debugging;
  • You’ll have strong JavaScript and JavaScript framework development experience;
  • You’ll have an understanding of big data and associated database challenges;
  • You’ll have worked in an agile team;
  • You will have worked in Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment environments.
