Linux System Administrator / DevOps
The main purpose of the role is to give excellent support to our customers and infrastructure, responding to incidents resolving problems and fixing bugs.
Duties & responsibilities:
This position is a highly event driven role dealing with issues raised in form of:
- Tickets
- Nagios alerts
- Server monitoring email alerts
- Cron Email
- Escalation from customers
Main responsibilities of the Dev Ops are:
- Communicate with the customer
- Onboarding new clients
- Building and setup of new hosting solutions
- Provide excellent customer service
- First responder to issues raised, including critical customer impacting incidents / including participate in OnCall rota.
- Troubleshooting and resolution of systems and network issues/outage events
- Incident- and outage analysis and reporting
- Plan and carry out scheduled maintenance
- OS and package updates
- Perform security audits and reports
- Improve monitoring infrastructure
- Create development and testing environment
- Carry out ad-hoc / scheduled restore requests
- Writing documentation
- Involvement in Oncall rota
- Fixing bugs
This role aims for 50% support / 50% project work.

Desired Skills
The ideal candidate would be familiar and competent in most or all of the areas below:
- AWS Cloud Platform
- IONOS Enterprise Cloud
- Basic LAMP stack including: Linux Centos 5 & 6, Apache, MySQL or Nginx, php-fpm, LiteSpeed
- Virtualization technologies including: LVM for storage & Xen for OS
- Amazon Web Services (primarily EC2, CloudFront & Elastic Load Balancers)
- Productivity apps like Slack, Google S-suite
- Comfortable fixing bugs in PHP
- Layer 2, 3 & 4 networking.
- Infrastructure services including: DHCP, DNS (BIND), SMTP, POP, SSH, Telnet, HTTP, HTTPS
- Network monitoring software including: Nagios, Cacti, MRTG
- Firewalls and VPN software: Juniper, IPTables, OpenVPN
- Ansible for configuration management
- Database services; MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB and Couchbase
