Fantastic opportinity for an experienced Infrastructure Consultant who is well respected in their field, specifically with a background in VMware storage, security, and backup to join a very reputable technology company based in Livingston.

The Company’s core ‘lines of business’ are: End-User Computing and Cloud Services. This includes UK wide end-user device deployment for many major government and corporate organisations. With their head office in Livingston, West Lothian, they also have offices in Aberdeen and a Southern office in Woodley, near Reading, to support their growing UK wide business.

In addition to providing services directly to end-user organisations, they have also successfully partnered major technology vendors and system integrators, in delivering large scale deployment and support services throughout the UK.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design and deployment of VMware infrastructure solutions including backup and recovery
  • Strong customer facing and presentation skills providing consultancy advice and technical workshops where necessary.
  • Utilising both on-premises, hosted and cloud solutions
  • Experience of Thin Client Desktop environments

Person Specification:

  • Excellent End User Computing experience in either VMware and / or Citrix environments
  • Experience with W10 Remote Desktop and Horizon VDI
  • Experience of building, deploying, and supporting high availability enterprise virtualised solutions
  • Datacentre virtualisation including vCentre, vSphere, vSAN, ESXi and other VMware products and platforms
  • Systems management including sizing of VMs, capacity management, planning and event management
  • Clear understanding of Data Centre technologies (Server, SQL, Storage, Networking, and integration with virtual infrastructure etc.)
  • Experienced with Windows Server, Citrix, Active Directory, DNS and core network principles.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies, AWS, Azure and VMWare
  • Managed Service or internal delivery of desktop services
  • Enterprise Storage deployments i.e. Veeam, Arcserve, Pure storage or equivalent
  • Knowledge of IP Networking, network security, firewall and routing
  • Supporting pre-sales meetings and appropriate solutions
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible and open to adapt to technology changes
  • Exceptional communication skills, and able to listen and understand client requirements
  • VMware and Microsoft professional certifications required

 Working pattern

  • Full-time (37.5hr), Permanent role
  • 9-5.30pm Monday to Friday with an occasional out of hours requirement
