Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing are delighted to be recruiting for an Electrical Bias Engineering Technician to join my clients team on a full time permanent basis.

In February 2017, permission to open a second fish feed plant on the Isle of Skye. The plant opened in Autumn 2018 and manufactures a broad portfolio of conventional and organic feeds for both fresh and seawater phases of salmon growth in Scotland, Ireland, Faeroes and in Norway.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, as an Engineering Technician you will be responsible to support the Engineering team and all the feed mill departments to continue the efficient operation of all process related equipment in a timely and constructive manner.

The main responsibilities and tasks of the role

  • Ensure all maintenance jobs are carried out safely observing any risk assessments.
  • Carry out maintenance tasks for scheduled, planned and unplanned, to maximise plant efficiency and minimise downtime
  • Carry out fault diagnosis to identify problems with plant as they arise and action the solution
  • Following the companies Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure systems are kept up to date and faults are entered into the system.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of maintenance, equipment status, parts/consumables used and fault reports
  • Use expertise and training to support the resolution of process issues as they arise
  • Adhere to Personal Development Plan as confirmed with Engineering Manager
  • Ensure the engineering workshop and offices are all maintained and operate to a high standard (organised, clean & tidy)
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with site policies and procedures
  • Support the creation of written procedures and associated documents (SOPs, SSoW, reports etc) and report errors or where documents have become obsolete and need to be updated.
  • Support and contribute to a continuous improvement quality culture.

Skills required for the role

  • 17th/18th Edition
  • Experience with PLC's
  • SVQ/NVQ level 3 Electrical Qualification 
  • A good attitude to work and promoting and supporting the companies value
  • Experience in production, manufacturing, maintenance or servicing environments
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to work alone or as part of a tea
  • Good communicator written and oral
  • Experience working with asset/maintenance management software, controlled work permit systems and following procedure
  • BTEC or City and Guild trained / apprenticeship or equivalent
  • Higher education in electrical or mechanical engineering fields to HNC or HND level desirable
  • Must have proven (evidence of qualifications) training for hands on, mechanical/electrical servicing/diagnosis
  • Proficient computer skills (Experience of Microsoft applications minimum
  • Good understanding of health, safety and environmental protocols and experience undertaking risk assessments and exercising risk reduction measures
