My client is a small cross-functional team of product managers, designers, hardware and software engineers developing a truly unique capability to digitise the world of chemistry.  They have an ambitious roadmap of features and capabilities that we will be deploying to their worldwide user base and are looking for someone to help make their app, and the wider system, a joy to use.

They now require a DevOps engineer to ensure the smooth operation of its Google Cloud Platform production and test environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploying, automating, maintaining, securing, monitoring, and managing Google Cloud Platform-based production and quality assurance (QA) instances;
  • Be responsible for Release Engineering;
  • Ensure Configuration Management of production instances;
  • System troubleshooting and problem solving across platform and application domains;
  • Generate and maintain a set of usage statistics for users of the company’s products;
  • Ensure cloud-based environment is operating within defined cost and performance parameters;
  • First-line application technical support for QA and production instances; and
  • In addition to the above, the successful candidate will be required to maintain, secure, monitor and manage the Atlassian and Office65 cloud-based development infrastructure for all office staff

Key Skills & Experience

  • In-depth experience as a DevOps Engineer in a GCP or similar Cloud environment
  • Strong scripting and experience with automation in Python or bash
  • Exposure to Java, JavaScript, Kotlin and Android applications is an advantage but not essential
  • Debian Linux system (ARM and Intel) administration for Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with MySQL and GiT
  • GCP technologies plus StackDriver, Deployment Manager, AppEngine, Compute Engine, and PubSub
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex infrastructure resources and application deployment issues
  • Experience of continuous integration and Agile
  • Has a ‘can-do’ attitude and is happy working in a start-up, ‘get stuck in’ environment.
