DataVita is home to Scotland’s premier data centre facility from which we offer colocation and IT cloud services to a host of public sector and private customers. Due to a period of success and growth we are now recruiting for an IT Business Development Executive to help the existing team.

The purpose of this department / team is to identify opportunities for sales of products and services to build your own customer portfolio. Engage with businesses to develop relationships and increase revenue. Supporting potential larger businesses with their requirements, either closing business yourself or by booking appointments for our Senior Business Development Managers to ensure potential clients are converted via virtual or face-to-face meetings as appropriate.

This role is perfect for someone with a tenacious and determined approach to sales, with previous experience in a B2B phone-based environment. Someone that can sense an opportunity and has the persistence to make it a reality. Someone that has a systematic approach to maintaining a large bank of leads and nurturing and managing them to drive growth for DataVita. 

Main duties of this role are:

  • Be the first point of contact for all inbound enquiries 
  • Cold and warm B2B outbound calling to prospective clients and existing customers, to promote the services and products that we can offer
  • Gather as much relevant information as possible and use our inhouse CRM (Salesforce) to pass these leads to the relevant division with the aim of arranging a meeting.
  • Support all marketing campaigns and events 
  • Report on lead status at monthly meetings 
  • Help with sales-based administration
  • Promoting and selling the IT portfolio of products and services
  • Finding leads for the broader portfolio of the business’ products and services and booking appointments for the IT BDM team for larger opportunities from predefined criteria or close business directly.
  • Building a pipeline of future opportunities for you and the sales team
  • Providing excellent customer service and representing the company brand positively

Requirements/previous experience 

  • 2 years previous experience in a similar role within a company selling IT solutions is essential
  • Proven experience of nurturing leads to sales qualified leads within a B2B environment 
  • Call center or phone-based sales experience is essential. 
  • Persuasive personality with strong verbal communication skills is essential 
  • Ability to work to deadlines and targets 
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good understanding of IT (networking, backup, disaster recovery, cybersecurity, IT infrastructure) is desirable
