Behind every successful placement is someone who genuinely loves connecting people with great opportunities. This month we are introducing Jack Harding, one of our Tech Recruiter consultants, who specialises in Digital and Technology.
Before recruitment I worked with a paper route, having this job gave opportunity to build on my communication and organisational skills which I still use today in my recruitment job.
No two days are the same, which is one of the things I love most about recruitment. As an Account Manager at Nine Twenty Recruitment my role involves partnering with businesses across Scotland to support them with attracting and hiring the top talent across the Tech Market. I manage client relationships, understand hiring needs, source high-quality candidates and support the recruitment process from initial brief through to the successful placement ensuring a positive experience for both clients and the candidates. Whether its sourcing candidates, meeting clients, interview support or negotiating offers, every day brings a new challenge.
What I enjoy most about my role without a doubt as Account Manager at Nine Twenty is building relationships with both my clients and candidates. I enjoy getting to know people beyond the job title or vacancy brief, understanding what motivates them, what they are looking for, and how I can support them in reaching the right outcome. Recruitment is rewarding because it is people-focused, every conversation is different, and there is a real sense of satisfaction in helping a business find the right person while also supporting a candidate in taking the next step in their career. Building trust over time and being part of those important decisions is what makes the role so enjoyable for me.
I mainly recruit across the Tech Industry which includes;
- Software Engineer
- Developer
- Data Analyst
- Project Manager
- Account Executive
I work with businesses ranging from existing clients to new global organisations, so there’s always something new happening.
The best recruiters don’t just fill vacancies, we take the time to understand people, ask the right questions and building lasting relationships. The Technology Industry changes quickly so to be a successful candidate it is important to be proactive, resilient and follow through on your commitments and be willing to adapt with the market is the main area which I find make a candidate stand out as the most successful.
My life at Nine Twenty Recruitment is always exciting and what I enjoy most about being part of Nine Twenty is the team, every person I work with supportive, approachable and a team which is always willing to help each other out. When asking my team what they think of me in three words I received included ‘Funny, Chatty and Supportive’. When looking back at achievements the most memorable and my favourite team achievement for me would be achieving my Apprenticeship Certificate. This was one of my top achievements and something I was super proud of.

My favourite way to spend time after logging off from work is going for nice long walks in scenic areas. It allows me to switch off from work, clear my head and enjoy some time away from screens. I find that being outdoors helps me reset after a busy day, especially in a role where I spend a lot of time speaking with clients and candidates. Long walks are a great way to relax, get some fresh air and take in new surroundings, and they always leave me feeling more refreshed and recharged.
Jack’s Advice for candidates seeking opportunities;
When applying for a new opportunity, take the time to tailor your CV to the role and highlight the experience most relevant to the position. Make sure you research the company and role before your interview, as preparation can make a real difference. Most importantly, remember that finding the right opportunity can take time, so stay patient, proactive and open to the right fit.
