Meet the Team!

Behind every successful placement is someone who genuinely enjoys connecting people with great opportunities. This month, we’re introducing Leon, one of our Tech recruitment consultants specialising in Technology and Digital. Before moving into recruitment, I worked in hospitality as a kitchen porter and covered front-of-house service shifts. That experience taught me the value of hard work and staying calm under pressure, skills I still use every day in my role at Nine Twenty Recruitment.

Every day we face different challenges at Nine Twenty which keeps me on my toes. As a Candidate facing Recruiter my role involves supporting candidates from their first stage in the hiring process right through to the last stage. Throughout this my top priority is to ensure that my candidates feel informed and comfortable during the whole process.

When working with Nine Twenty recruitment there is a few things which I enjoy most but the biggest one being meeting and having the opportunity to speak to new people. Nobody is the same which makes everyday different to the last, and in this line of work it gives you the chance to genuinely connect with some amazing, talented, kind individuals along the way.

My role consists of recruiting in the Technology Industry with my primary focus being Business applications.

So, what makes someone a successful candidate in recruitment? In my opinion it comes down to resilience, you're constantly speaking to people who don't want to hear from you, and the key is not letting that knock you before moving on to the next conversation. The same applies when a role is proving frustrating and progress feels slow. Staying resilient is what gets it over the line.

Life at Nine Twenty Recruitment

When thinking about what I love most about Nine Twenty Recruitment I would have to say it the people 100% my team at Nine Twenty Recruitment genuinely feels like a family in the office, and being a smaller company means we have far more freedom than you'd typically find somewhere bigger. When asking the team what words they think of associated I received similar feedback of being a kind trusting individual which I was so happy to hear as these are characteristic, I strive to get across to everyone. When looking back at my achievements with Nine Twenty Recruitment I have one very important memory which is landing my second ever deal. Now this isn’t usually something people talk about, but imposter syndrome is very real, and being able to prove to myself I can do this job and it wasn’t a fluke was one of the best moments.

Get to know me!

When I log off from work, I enjoy getting out and about, especially browsing charity shops for music vinyl. If I’m not out exploring, I like catching up on football and watching matches from past and present. I love to explore new places and travel, my biggest and most favourite trip was 100% Rome, the culture, the people, the sights and the food was incredible.  While most people now a days prefer working from home, but I enjoy most being the office. For me I work better and stay more focused while being able to turn to colleagues for support or just a good chat. Fun fact about me is I've climbed Mount Vesuvius. Or, more accurately, I was one of the many casualties of Pompeii, having twisted my ankle within the first two steps of entering the site.

Leon’s advice for candidates seeking jobs;

Be resilient and always tailor your CV and profile to the role you are applying for, I find this so important as you want these to reflect exactly what you are looking to help you get that next step.
