Principal Finance Consultant – D365 Finance & Operations

Our client is a leading Microsoft Partner delivering enterprise-scale digital transformation programmes across the UK. With a strong reputation in Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, they work with complex organisations to modernise finance functions, optimise processes, and drive long-term value.
As a Principal Finance Consultant you will play a critical leadership role within the professional services practice. You will combine deep functional expertise with strategic thinking, leading client engagements end-to-end while mentoring consultants and shaping best practices across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and delivery of Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations finance solutions across multiple workstreams
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders (Finance Directors, CFOs, Programme Sponsors)
- Translate complex finance requirements into scalable, best-practice D365 F&O solutions
- Own solution architecture and functional design across core finance modules (GL, AP, AR, FA, Budgeting, Cash & Bank, etc.)
- Support pre-sales activities including solution shaping, estimates, and client presentations
Leadership & Practice Development:
- Provide functional leadership across the Finance F&O practice
- Mentor, coach, and develop consultants at varying levels of seniority
- Lead by example on delivery quality, stakeholder management, and professional standards
- Contribute to methodology, accelerators, and IP development
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and capability growth within the practice
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to a high standard
- Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and escalations
- Drive continuous improvement across delivery approaches and client outcomes
Essential:
- Extensive experience delivering Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations solutions
- Strong background in finance processes and Accounting
- Proven leadership experience within consulting or professional services environments
- Experience leading client engagements and managing senior stakeholders
- Ability to mentor and develop consulting teams
- Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
