Nine Twenty are delighted to be continually supporting our Packaging Manufacturing client in their need for a Quality & Safety Manager to join their team permanently.

The Quality, Safety & Compliance Manager will have a key role within the organisation, reporting directly to the Technical Director. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure quality, safety, and compliance across various standards and regulations. Specifically, the role involves maintaining ISO 9001 accreditation, developing and delivering BRC, FSC, and relevant environmental standards for the new site in Livingston.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring compliance with current policies and standards: The Quality, Safety & Compliance Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all applicable policies and standards are followed within the organization.

  • Managing ISO and BRC-based management systems: The manager will assist in growing and maintaining the ISO-based management system along with the BRC certification.

  • Health and safety (H&S) point of contact: The manager will serve as the main point of contact for health and safety matters, ensuring that all incidents are appropriately investigated and reported.

  • Reviewing and updating risk assessments: The manager will carry out regular reviews and updates of risk assessments in a planned manner to ensure ongoing compliance and safety.

  • Handling non-conformities (NCs): The manager will be responsible for raising, investigating, and responding to internal and external non-conformities with customers and suppliers. They will also work with department heads to establish root causes and develop robust corrective actions.

  • Reviewing and refining corrective actions: Periodically, the manager will review and refine implemented corrective actions to improve performance and address any gaps.

  • Conducting site audits and compliance reviews: The manager will schedule and conduct site audits and an annual compliance review to assess the organisation's adherence to standards and identify areas for improvement.

  • Leading local team meetings and providing assistance: The manager will lead local team meetings and offer assistance when required to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

  • Conducting lab testing and reporting: The manager may be required to perform some lab testing and report the results as needed.

  • Managing data collation, recording, and reporting: The manager will be responsible for managing the collection, recording, and reporting of monthly data related to quality, safety, and compliance.

  • Document management: The manager will ensure that all relevant documentation, whether in paper or electronic form, is managed and maintained according to document control procedures.

  • Maintaining communication with management: The manager will maintain robust and open communication with peers, senior management, and group management to highlight gaps, best practices, and implement solutions as needed.

  • Identifying and addressing training needs: The manager will identify and assist with training needs and requirements related to quality, safety, and compliance.

  • Ensuring statutory compliance testing: The manager will ensure that all required statutory compliance testing is carried out and actioned appropriately.

Additionally, it should be noted that some travel to other group sites may be required as part of the role.

Overall, the Quality, Safety & Compliance Manager plays a critical role in maintaining and improving quality, safety, and compliance standards within the organisation, ensuring that all relevant regulations and standards are met.
