Nine Twenty are recruiting for our key partner client position of QHSE & Training Manager to support continued growth of the business, a fast-growing multi-disciplinary engineering business based in Perthshire

The role will look after 2 businesses (fabrication, pipework and installation) around 55 shop floor staff and small office staff. Experience within ISO knowledge and implementation SMTS – site knowledge and apprentice training is desired. There is an option to work from home up to two days per week.

The Manager will be responsible for managing the day to day business Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety policies, processes and procedures and manage the training and skills development. The role will report directly to the Operations Director, whilst also supporting the rest of the Management Team by maintaining the Quality, Environmental and H&S Systems throughout the organisation.

This position requires a forward thinking individual with a ‘Can Do’ approach for ensuring QHSE and Training requirements are followed daily throughout the business.

 

  • Health and Safety: Take the lead in managing health and safety processes and systems across workshop, office, and site environments. This includes monitoring, reporting, investigating, analyzing, and taking necessary actions to ensure continual compliance with statutory legislation and internal processes. Conduct HAZOPs and DSEAR assessments and maintain membership in specific trade bodies. Provide coaching and training to staff for continual improvement.
  • Quality Control: Continually develop and implement fabrication quality control procedures, both on-site and with contractors and suppliers. Develop weld procedures and ensure staff certifications are up to date. Monitor, report, inspect, analyze, and take actions to ensure compliance with statutory legislation, contract obligations, specifications, and internal processes. Offer coaching and training to staff for continual improvement.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain operational compliance with accreditation bodies such as ISO and BSI. Conduct QHSE audits to meet ISO Standards, Safe Contractor, and Constructionline accreditations.
  • Environmental: Develop and deliver operational compliance with environmental standards, focusing on continual improvement.
  • Training: Develop and deliver a comprehensive training program covering health, safety, and quality for all staff disciplines. Maintain trade and technical certifications and conduct staff inductions.
  • Support Directors: Assist Directors in meeting statutory obligations and driving performance improvement across the business, particularly within the fabrication workshop, on-site, and across trades and technical staff.
  • Champion Strategy: Lead the strategy to improve the group's health and safety culture and performance. Ensure every activity is risk-assessed with tailored method statements, and empower every employee to stop work if necessary. Ensure sites have signed teams working to agreed RAMS, actively track and report KPIs across companies, and drive the standard of RAMS and audit programs across sites.
  • Quality Champion: Support senior management in safe project delivery for clients, acting as a quality champion within the Senior Management Team.

 

Skills : 

  • Strong H&S background within construction or related engineering services and solid knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations,
  • NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Health and Safety Leadership Excellence or similar
  • Familiarity with metal fabrication health, safety, quality and certification requirements
  • Able to lead, coach and manage others with confidence
  • Able to write operational procedures to a high standard
