SmartSTEMs is the glue between Tertiary Education, Industry and Schools. They exist to provide equity of opportunity to young people into STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) with focus on disadvantaged and under-represented groups. Their expertise lies in organising and hosting events, bringing together tertiary education, industry and schools under one roof.
SmartSTEMs are part of a large project titled Digital Dairy Value-Chain taking place over the next five years in South west Scotland. Their part in this project is to engage with schools and host events across this area ensuring young people are aware of the options available to them locally and the role STEM has to play in the industry. As part of this, they are hiring a member of staff who will be leading on the activities in these respective areas which includes liaising and creating partnerships with local organisations and farmers as well as organising and facilitating both virtual and face-to-face events with schools.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working with young people and will have experience of running and managing events. You will be familiar with building strong robust relationships with multiple stakeholders and be able to communicate at all levels. Experience with Microsoft Office (or equivalent) is also key. If you were familiar with STEM/STEAM, had experience in the education sector and are familiar with social media platforms then this would be a big bonus.
This is a people focussed business so enjoying speaking with people, coming up with ideas and getting things done will be key. The team are a great team to join and the project is truly exciting for the areas.
