Our client, a renowned independent distiller of some of the world's finest and rarest Scotch whiskies, is seeking a Procurement Specialist to join their team in Ayrshire. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a fast-paced, growth-focused, and sustainability-led environment.
Position Overview
As a Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for managing strategic procurement activities, supplier relationships, and contract performance across the packaging category for a high-performing plant. You will play a crucial role in driving cost efficiency, responsible sourcing, and sustainable supply chains.
Responsibilities

Develop and implement packaging category strategies aligned with stakeholder needs, commercial goals, and sustainability objectives

Source and secure suppliers who meet commercial, operational, and ESG standards

Lead tenders and supplier selection using total cost of ownership (TCO) principles

Negotiate and implement supplier contracts and SLAs to deliver best-in-class service and value

Own financial delivery for your category, driving value through cost reduction, risk mitigation, and supplier innovation

Lead price benchmarking, value engineering, and cost model development

Develop supplier relationships built on transparency, compliance, and continuous improvement

Embed sustainability into category strategies, including packaging optimisation, carbon footprint reduction, and circular economy goals
Requirements

Minimum 3 years' experience in a procurement or supply chain role, ideally in the drinks or FMCG industry

Strong commercial mindset with a natural ability to influence, negotiate, and deliver results

Confident working across functions with the credibility to engage stakeholders at all levels

Knowledge of MRP systems (Access preferred) and comfortable with Excel and cost modelling

Highly organised with a sharp attention to detail and process improvement mindset

Driven, curious, and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership and problem-solving skills

Awareness or experience of sustainable procurement or working with ESG frameworks is a plus
