Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing are delighted to be supporting Loch Lomond Group as they look to recruit a Process Safety Specialist to join their distillery operations in Alexandria. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a globally recognised spirits producer where safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement are central to the business.

The Opportunity
As Process Safety Specialist, you will provide technical leadership and assurance across all aspects of process safety management. You will play a key role in ensuring safe, compliant and efficient operations through robust risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of process safety performance across the site.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) activities including HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL assessments and hazardous area classification.
  • Support process safety requirements across FEED and EPC project stages, ensuring alignment with engineering standards and legal obligations.
  • Conduct internal process safety reviews to assess operational risks, control measures and improvement opportunities.
  • Provide specialist guidance on COMAH, DSEAR, ATEX, WSOE and explosive atmosphere requirements.
  • Support site HSE and Engineering teams to ensure compliance with current and emerging process safety legislation.
  • Contribute to Management of Change (MoC) processes, ensuring process safety implications are fully assessed and controlled.
  • Provide process safety input into engineering design, modifications and contractor activities across the site.
  • Lead investigations into process safety related incidents, delivering root cause analysis and effective corrective actions.
  • Drive improvements in risk management frameworks, auditing processes and overall process safety performance.
  • Support and influence stakeholders across the business to embed a strong process safety culture.

 

About You
You will be a technically strong and proactive process safety professional who enjoys working cross-functionally and influencing improvements across a complex manufacturing environment.

 

Skills & Experience Required

  • Degree qualified in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Health & Safety or Process Safety role within FMCG, chemical, or high-hazard manufacturing environments.
  • Experience delivering PHA studies including HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA and hazardous area classification.
  • Strong knowledge of DSEAR, explosive atmospheres and UK process safety legislation.
  • Experience working within COMAH environments is desirable.
  • Strong root cause problem-solving skills and the ability to facilitate investigations.
  • Good computer literacy including Word, Excel and PowerPoint (CAD knowledge desirable).
  • Process-driven mindset with a strong focus on compliance, safety and continuous improvement.
