Gardener/Handyman - Inverclyde

Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing are delighted to be partnering with Loch Lomond Group as they look for a Maintenance & Grounds Person to join the team at Auchendennan House (near Balloch).

Built in 1866, Auchendennan House is the flagship, A-Listed property of the Loch Lomond Group—hosting visitors and serving as a focal point for the organisation. This role keeps the estate safe, pristine and guest-ready year-round.

 

Contract details

  • Full-time, on-site at Auchendennan House (near Balloch)

  • Core hours around 09:00–17:00 (some flexibility in line with estate needs)

  • Salary: competitive (tbc)

  • Reports to: Estate & Property Manager

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Lawn & grass care: mowing (ride-on & hand), fertilising, watering, moss/weed treatment, strimming, and verge repairs

  • Grounds maintenance: weeding across turf, gravel and cobbles; jet washing, leaf/debris clearance, pruning shrubs/trees, storm clean-ups, gritting in icy weather, and caring for water features (including the Japanese waterfall)

  • Property upkeep: painting & decorating touch-ups, minor joinery and plumbing, repairing gates/fences, maintaining interior/exterior lighting (driveway & fountain), and supporting safe work at height

  • Seasonal duties: assisting with Christmas trees and decorations; covering during Property & Estate Managers’ holidays

  • Safety & compliance: supporting checks on safety appliances and reporting hazards promptly

 

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience in groundskeeping or estate maintenance across varied terrain

  • Confident with garden machinery (mowers, strimmers, blowers, jet washers) and basic upkeep

  • Practical skills in painting, joinery, basic plumbing and general repairs

  • Strong awareness of Health & Safety and safe working practices

  • Physically fit, reliable, organised, and proud of high presentation standards

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Desirable: NVQ L2/3 (Horticulture/Grounds/Facilities), City & Guilds (Property/Facilities), PA1/PA6, chainsaw/brushcutter certification, manual handling training, and experience in private estates, hospitality, schools, or facilities settings.
