Cheers to Careers - Student Opportunities in Engineering

Aaron Snood

Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing are proudly sponsoring the “Cheers to Careers” event which is hosted by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers Young Members Panel.

This is an event to bring industry together with Students who are looking ahead at opportunities in engineering. Nine Twenty have always been passionate about ensuring industry is proactive in developing talent pipelines, and we work closely with our up and coming workforce to showcase how amazing the manufacturing and engineering sectors can be as a career choice.

We caught up with Natasha Pell who is Vice Chair for the Young members panel and asked her some questions about the event.

Tell us more about your role on the Young Members Panel?

As Vice Chair my role it to support our Chair, Catie Gray,  in organising career oriented and social events for the young professional and student community in the Glasgow and West of Scotland Area. Personally, I have a particular interest facilitating valuable networking opportunities between students and young professionals, enabling to immerse themselves in the exciting landscape of Scottish Engineering. Together we strive to create an engaging platform that fosters growth, learning and connections for the next generation of engineering in our area.

Cheers to Careers is an event you are hosting in October 2023, can you share what the event will be like?
Previously known as Careers and Beers, Cheers to Careers gives students the opportunity to interact with employers in a relaxed and informal setting. Employers will be given a designated area to discuss any internships or graduate opportunities that might be available in the upcoming year.

What type of companies will be attending?

This year we have a wide range of companies attending:
•    Howden
•    Leonardo UK
•    Babcock
•    NMIS
•    Wood Plc
And many more to be announced!

What are the benefits to business getting involved?

Its free! There is no exhibiting fee at this event and therefore a cost-effective way to tap into the future talent pipeline. Getting your business involved increases your brand awareness and reputation among the student community. It also provides the platform to showcase your commitment to support and nurture emerging talent.

Can our network do more to help?

Always! There are still company spaces for this event so please do get in contact.
