Meet The Team - Digital Candidate Manager, Fraser Gillespie

Aaron Snood

1. Can you tell us a little about your background before you joined the team at Nine Twenty Recruitment?

Before joining Nine Twenty Recruitment, I was an internal recruiter within the BBC. This was a three-month fixed term contract that I took on to get a good grasp of resourcing policy and best practice within recruitment.

Prior to the BBC, I was a Talent Resourcing Executive for Kew Green Hotels, where we were managing over 100 vacancies in each week as hotels opened their doors once Covid restrictions began to lift. Now after working within the hospitality and broadcasting sectors, I’m excited to apply my resourcing knowledge within the constantly evolving Digital space.

2. What attracted you to working with our team?

Nine Twenty Recruitment has a strong presence within the Scottish recruitment industry. They have an amazing relationship with their clients and candidates and the rolling business from clients speaks volumes of the service they provide.

Nine Twenty Recruitment are all about transparent and genuine service which really aligns with my approach to recruitment. They genuinely care about the people they serve and there’s a really positive supportive culture within.

3. What does your role in the business involve?

I’ll be joining the Digital recruitment team as a Candidate Manager, which essentially means I’ll be helping Digital professionals find their dream roles and our clients their dream candidates.

4. What is your focus over the next 3 months?

Over the next three months, I’d like to initially get a firm understanding of the job roles available within the sector and any market trends happening at the moment. More than anything I’d love to hit the ground running and start helping clients find their perfect candidates.

I know the importance of representing a brand and coming from a customer service background, how important it is to make sure expectations of clients are met and that they are provided with the best service possible. I’m really looking forward to creating good, long-lasting relationships with clients and candidates.

5. You have just completed your first week, how was that and what have you been up to?

The first week has been great! I've just been finding my feet a little, understanding the systems and cracking on with the training that’s been provided. There’s been some nice breaks from the training where I’ve met with multiple faces from Nine Twenty Recruitment. Everyone seems really supportive and genuine, which is always great to see! Looking forward to calling some candidates once the training groundwork has been done.

6. Tell us more about who you are out of work?

Out of work, you’ll likely find me at the gym, at the pub or out for a long walk, which I know isn’t the most exciting list of hobbies. Recently I’ve gotten into the world of Formula 1 thanks to the Netflix series, and you’ll probably find I have a few TV shows on the go at once (let me know if you need any recommendations). My partner and I are at a really exciting stage where we are looking to move into our first place together, as soon as we stop spending all of our money on fancy dinners and brunch.

If you are interested in getting in touch with Fraser, he would love to hear from you.
