Red Nose Day 2022 | Comic Relief

Leigh Kinninmont

Red Nose Day takes place this year on Friday the 18th of March 2022.

At Nine Twenty, we are extremely passionate about supporting Red Nose Day. We decided to get silly and have a little photoshoot with our red noses to show our support and raise some funds.

All fun aside, our team is touched by the stories Comic Relief highlights and we are delighted to support such a worthy cause.

Comic Relief started Red Nose Day as an annual fundraising campaign. The mission of Red Nose Day is to end child poverty by funding programs that keep children safe, healthy, educated and empowered.

Whether you fundraise, buy, or donate, you can help people live free from poverty, violence and discrimination. This includes funding organisations that are supporting people right now in Ukraine, and those attempting to cross the border. You can make a difference. Because you have the power to change lives.

The very first Red Nose Day was in 1988 and raised a huge £15 million! Since then, celebrities have came together to take part in many activities to help fundraise for this worthy cause.

A few of these activities include:
  • The Kilimanjaro challenge, where 9 celebrities including Ed Balls, Dani Dyer and Shirley Ballas taking on the 19,000 feet climb up Africa's highest mountain
  • Celebrity chums Lorraine Kelly, Scott Mills, Kara Tointon, Olly Murs, Ronnie Ancona, Dermot O'Leary, Peter White, Nadia Sawalha and Craig David faced a gruelling 100km trek in Kenya
  • J.K. Rowling's released special edition Harry Potter books
  • Dermot O’Leary smashed it for Comic Relief with his 24-hour day of dance
The highest amount of money to date that has been raised was in 2011, with a whopping £108,436,277 being raised. Since the start of Red Nose Day, over £1billion has been raised.
