Karen Stewart Joins The Board Of SmartSTEMs

Leigh Kinninmont

This month we were delighted to announce that our Managing Director of Nine Twenty Engineering and Manufacturing division, Karen Stewart, has joined the board of SmartSTEMs in Scotland.

SmartSTEMs works to inspire the younger generation into STEM subjects through schools and a range of different outreach events. They work hard to promote inclusion and equal opportunities for all. We spoke to Karen who shared her excitement about collaborating with the team.

"Both personally and as a business, it is my absolute passion (which is almost becoming my sole mission) to inspire others into seeing the opportunities that STEM can bring them. The world is changing at lightning speed which will shape the whole future of our job market, and I want to ensure I can look back on my career and think that I really did make a difference. The next workforce needs to be educated on what the future holds and what opportunities may look like and more importantly, what routes they can take to reach their goals.

Joining the Board of SmartSTEMs as a trustee is an absolute honour, and I look forward to working closely with the team on growing the brand and ensuring we reach even more young people to inspire them.

We are also about to announce a joint venture which will take things to the next level and are all very excited. So watch this space!

SmartSTEMs is a super charity born from the passion the see others succeed. It ties in perfectly with my company values and truly does make a difference. As a team, they just like to get things done and that is how I like to work. Thank you to the SmartSTEMs team for asking me to join and I can't wait to get involved and hopefully help them achieve their ambitions and goals."
