Nine Twenty Recruitment are delighted to be partnered with one of Europe's largest Research and Education networks in the recruitment of a WordPress Software Engineer

They provide users with highly reliable, unconstrained access to computing, storage, applications etc, to ensure that Europe remains at the forefront of research, connecting over 50 million users at 10,000 institutions across Europe and supporting all scientific disciplines.

This is a fully remote role with occasional travel required to Cambridge.

The role:

In order for all the network's participants to showcase their work, WordPress is used as a platform to host public facing sites. These projects/Sites are diverse in nature from static pages to full dynamic content management.

The sites have been established and migrated from their previous location/technology and now we need expert resource to manage the support of these sites and provide and execute a development plan for the sites to ensure they are resilient, safe and make use of the best available features to showcase the network's products and services.

 

Tasks:

  • Provide a support service within agreed SLA's for the WordPress estate
  • Provision of a development plan that details the approach to the ongoing development of the web estate with particular reference to new features/functionality we should deploy
  • Work on tickets issues by end-users/website owners.
  • Work with IT to make sure all security and functional issues are catered for.
  • WordPress version and plugin management, testing and troubleshooting WordPress theme migration
  • Continue to rebuild existing non-wp websites in our cloud hosted WordPress environment
  • Reviewing existing site configurations on a regular basis and provide suggestions for improvements
  • Participate in WAF testing and troubleshooting

 

Deliverables:

  • A support service with agreed SLAs
  • An outline development plan for the continued improvement of the websites
  • Maintain test and UAT environments for each site. (approx. 40)
  • Sort out issues and tickets raised by customers (site owners)
  • Continue to develop the 'how to' documentation for future migrations
  • Utilising WPEngine features continue to improve the quality of our service
  • Standardising the existing WPEngine installations to ensure consistency and resilience
  • Participating in WAF testing and security hardening
  • Plugin review and consultancy
  • Updating certificates on WPEngine side in an agreed timely manner
  • Work closely with our hosting partner to ensure an efficient and stable service
