Warehouse Team Manager

Central Glasgow

A rare opportunity has arisen with one of our clients for the position of Warehouse Team Manager based at their site in Glasgow.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day management of the operational warehouse areas and will be required to work closely with internal and 3rd party logistics & planning teams for materials and finished goods movements, across a 24 hour shift roster. This is a day shift role but flexible hours will be required in line with business needs.

Key Responsibilities of the role will be:

  • Delivering excellence in performance across: health safety and environment; quality; operations; cost management; improvement activities; customer service focus and delivery; and site standards and audit readiness.
  • Managing the warehouse functions to support and deliver the weekly site production schedules, on-time, on-cost and on-quality
  • Implementing best practice through modern warehousing tools and techniques
  • Ensuring inventory and stock accuracy through management activities such as cycle counting, stock takes and reconciliation
  • Managing the performance and development of team members
  • Ensuring the delivery of operational budgets and maintaining cost control and reduction initiatives

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Operational knowledge of modern warehouse processes and functions, together with practical managerial experience of running a multi-shift team of warehouse operators and forklift drivers
  • Self-motivation and enthusiasm, with the ability to drive change through positive communication, employee involvement and forward planning
  • Strong interpersonal and organisation skills, coupled with the ability to communicate successfully
  • The ability to work to deadlines and deliver under pressure
  • Highly result focused with demonstrable experience of successful performance tracking against Key Performance Indicators
