The Role:

The successful candidate will initially need to audit existing systems, and gather business requirements from stakeholders representing the 3 areas of development, sales/account management and business strategic interests. Some degree of documentation/diagramming of existing systems may be needed. Business requirements will need to be refined into achievable technical goals, and prioritized with the aid of the business. For each goal, technical options will need to be researched and presented to the business, and one option chosen. An upgrade path, work plan and time scale should documented and agreed with the business, with an acceptable level of business disruption agreed with relevant stakeholders. Implementation will follow, with periodic reviews. After implementation, the outcome will need to be reviewed, the end state of the project will need to be documented. Then the list of outstanding business requirements, technical goals and priorities should be reviewed, before proceeding to research and present options for the next goal.

At the end of the contract, a handover is envisaged, ensuring that systems are stable, documentation is complete and knowledge transferred.

The candidate must have experience of:

  • Enterprise messaging systems (including Skype for Business and major alternative products)
  • Firewalls and Routers (preferably including Fortinet, and major suppliers such as Cisco and Juniper)
  • VPN technologies (including remote worker and site-to-site) and alternative remote-access technologies
  • Virtualisation (including Hyper-v and major alternative platforms)
  • Windows 2016 server (including design and implementation of Active Directory)
  • Windows 10
  • Ubuntu (desktop and server)
  • Office 365 (and major alternative document collaboration platforms)
  • Server hardware installation and maintenance (preferably including Dell PowerEdge servers)

Would like the candidate to have experience of:

  • Working with small or medium-sized software houses
  • Cyber Essentials and ISO security accreditation
  • Microsoft Azure and major alternative platforms
  • MDMs (including Intune, and major alternative platforms)
  • On-premises Exchange server
  • Acquisition and installation of teleconferencing systems
