Nine Twenty are now recruiting for a Software Engineer to work in the western location of Glasgow.   Our client is a Global Technology Company with offices spanning across Europe, Asia and America. Role

You will be involved in the design, development, and the implementation of web based applications.  The Software Engineer will work within the engineering team in order to develop new product features, identify and resolve quality issues and handle product support requests.

Experience required:

  • A degree or post graduate qualification in Computer Science or Software Engineering at 2:1 or above.
  • Design and development experience in Java 2 Platform technologies (J2EE, EJB) and web application servers;
  • Extensive object oriented analysis, algorithm design and J2EE design patterns;
  • Ability to understand and solve complex problems and concepts as well as make decisions based on given input; analytical skills include, but are not limited to applying logical thinking to gathering and analyzing information, designing and testing solutions to problems, and formulating plans;
  • Development experience with: J2EE, EJBs, AJAX, SQL Server (fluent with SQL programming, Stored Procedures), JSP or Servlets, XML, HTML, JavaScript;
  • Experience with both web client side and server side development;
  • Good understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3
  • Knowledge of benchmarking and optimization
  • Experience of software development within a team
  • Experience of an IDE e.g. Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA
  • Experience of version control systems e.g. Subversion, CVS, Git
  • Experience of software debugging
  • Experience of root cause analysis
  • Experience of unit testing and TDD
  • Experience of continuous integration systems
  • Understanding of software development life cycle methodologies
  • Understanding of JEE
  • Understanding of RDBMS such as Oracle, SQL Server or MySQL
  • Understanding of cross-browser compatibility concerns
  • Knowledge of web application development
