Nine Twenty Technology is delighted to be working exclusively with our client, Safety at Sea, a subsidiary of the Brookes Bell Group. We are exclusively managing the recruitment of a Software engineer position, based in Glasgow city centre.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on new and existing software development projects alongside a medium sized department of developers. This role will involve all aspects of the software development lifecycle including requirement analysis, design, programming and testing as well as an opportunity to develop projects through working directly with clients.
Safety at Sea undertakes bespoke software development for customers within the Shipping industry. Your role will involve overseeing client software requirements for a portfolio including many blue-chip, internationally recognized companies including Royal Caribbean.
About you:
- You should be able to solve interesting and varied problems by liaising with the diverse range of engineers, mathematicians and scientists
- You should be excited to work in areas such as vessel motions in waves, passenger evacuation modelling, system energy modelling, shipping container operation modelling and emergency decision support systems for ships
- You should be able to share your ideas and communicate well with clients and staff, both within Brookes Bell Safety at Sea and within the wider group
- The role would suit someone from a Software Consultancy although we will consider all serious applications
Responsibilities:
To assist in the development of company strategy along with company directors, staff and advisors you will have responsibility for the following activities:
- Communicate with clients in order to understand clients’ requirements and develop appropriate software concepts, architecture, work processes and development plan
- Delivery of software to clients according to specifications
- Development of Software products
- Follow all aspects of the software development lifecycle including requirement analysis, design, programming and testing
Required knowledge/ experience :
- 5 years' experience using C++ VCL language or Embarcadero Delphi language or similar for developing Windows based applications
- Object-oriented software design
- Strong communication skills
