Required Expertise and Skills:
- You must be comfortable discussing your ideas to both technical peers and non-technical users.
- The successful candidate will be joining as a Senior Software Engineer and be member of a small niche development team.
- Undertaking code reviews, and providing evaluation and feedback on the production of work.
- Solve complex performance problems and architectural challenges.
- Integration of data storage solutions.
- Attending project retrospectives and contributing as appropriate.
- Team player - You’re able to work effectively in team.
- Take ownership of development of core platforms and systems.
- Work with the business to maintain scale and develop new features and functions across platforms.
- Input ideas in early stage project scoping whilst being free to contribute to improvement of platforms.
Technical background:
- 5 years’ experience with object-oriented principals and knowledge of common design patterns such as MVC, symfony or laravel
- Understanding of big data and associated database challenges
- MySQL development, configuration and optimisation.
- Knowledge of front-end and back-end best practices.
- Experience of Unix / Linux.
- Object oriented design experience.
- Understanding with one or more scripting languages
- Familiarity with one or more compiled languages
- Consuming and developing REST APIs.
- Experience with source control, e.g. SVN/GIT.
