Nine Twenty Technology are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join a market leading organisation whose software delivers a hospitality management system which is utilised by some of the world’s top restaurants, alongside thousands of bars, clubs, and hotels across the world. This organisation has headquarters in the Glasgow, Scotland but also operate in Singapore, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.


The role:

We're looking for an experienced senior engineer to join our growing infrastructure team. This person will be passionate about setting standards and automating processes, works well within development teams, and writes clear documentation that development teams can follow. As an experienced and senior member of the team you will be expected to hit the ground running with our tech stack, and will be able to handle complex problems. We expect you to take ownership of these issues and to suggest new and innovative technologies and ways of working. You will also be expected to help and mentor more junior team members. In addition, you will be expected to join our on-call rota, and periodically perform maintenance tasks outside of normal working hours to avoid customer impact.



  •  At least 3 years practical experience in a DevOps or SRE role, including Agile ways of working on distributed systems with a focus on tooling, automation and systems operation.

  •  Practical experience of Azure Cloud admi, covering; compute, storage, network and security.

  • Hands-on experience with software deployment and orchestration technologies - e.g. Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes / AKS in production environments.

  • Experience with operational aspects of DevOps, including application, performance and security monitoring and alerting.

  •  Creating and maintaining CI/CD and deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps and Azure Pipelines.

  • An understanding of common Azure networking techniques including strong network controls.

  • Comfortable working with both Windows Server and Linux systems.

  •  Managing domains and DNS records.

  • Mid-level scripting skills (e.g. Bash, Powershell) including knowledge of Azure CLI.

  • Experience with source control and peer review process using Git / GitHub.

  •  Awareness of and interest in, the latest technologies and new innovative techniques.

  • Working on an on-call rota.


  • Experience in building highly secure, scalable and available systems.

  • Experience of using Helm to deploy to Kubernetes / AKS.

  • Using Packer to build VM images

  •  Deploying to Azure Virtual Machine Scale Sets and Cloud Services.

  • Experience with the Grafana, Prometheus, Alertmanager stack.

  • Experience of working with SQL Server.
