As the Senior Network Engineer, you will play a key role, split across both BAU and project delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of a complex network (both LAN & WAN), with multiple technology challenges and the need for transformation. They will have accountability for the uptime of the services, security, strategy, support, and cost. They will be focused on the delivery of highly secure and resilient services to both internal and external customers. The Senior Network Engineer will work with both new and old customers to help develop designs and strategies which allow easy migration into our datacentre and to consume services. They will also be responsible for the management and development of relationships with all major service providers and key suppliers.

Main Tasks and Accountabilities:

  • Design, Deploy, Manage and Maintain best-in-class network availability, resiliency, and performance, leveraging state-of-the-art networking technologies such as virtualization and software defined networking (SDN)
  • Develop and enact network design and implementation roadmaps to meet the company’s operations & infrastructure business goals and metrics for availability, resiliency, security, and performance
  • Work with the senior management team in the development of potential new customer services and taking these to market
  • Attend customer meetings to provide advice and design consultant services
  • Monitor and suggest improvements to network performance, capacity, scalability, and security
  • Complete preventative maintenance to maintain service operation in line with operating standards and service level agreements.
  • Develop the system recovery processes to minimise the risk and impact of a serious disaster and threats to continuity (including management and testing of the appropriate business continuity and disaster recovery plans).
  • Maintain network configuration and security integrity through CI management, records and documented procedures.
  • Resolution of escalated incidents and service requests within SLA
  • Mentor other team members on technical issues
  • Undertaking occasional unsocial hours in response to alerts or completing planned changes
  • Participating in an on-call rota in response to incidents
