Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing are proud to be partnering with IndiNature who are a vibrant business that produces sustainable construction materials. They have developed a natural fibre insulation system called IndiBreathe using hemp and flax grown in the UK, that can be fitted in new and retrofit building projects.

They are now preparing to launch the first natural fibre insulation factory in the history of the UK. This factory will be producing carbon negative natural fibre insulation for homes and commercial properties and are partnering with Nine Twenty Recruitment to recruit a Permanent production site manager for their new Production Facility in the Scottish Borders.  

Raw materials include industrial hemp and flax fibres which are processed through a non-woven textiles production line.

The Role:

This is a very exciting opportunity for the right candidate - as a Production Manager you will be joining a friendly team with a purpose - to make products for healthy, ecological buildings. You’ll work alongside the two executive Founders and a specialist textiles start-up Production Consultant who will continue to develop processes and industry certification. You will line manage the Production Engineer, Supply Chain Manager, an Administrator and a small team of Production Operators. You’ll be supported by a Financial Controller and a Bookkeeper and take sales orders from a growing sales team including a Sales Manager and Sales Rep.

Your goal is to ensure the mill produces quality products to meet sales demand. This includes ensuring the production line runs well and efficiently and is maintained, products are quality controlled, the team is well managed and health and safety is prioritised.


  • You will manage the overall production site 
  • You will ensure the production plan is supported and robust supply chain 
  • You will ensure all Standard Operating Procedures are in place
  • You will ensure Continuous Improvement throughout the facility being familiar with 5S and lean manufacturing
  • You will ensure Quality Control systems are followed 
  • You will ensure industry bodies certifications are completed 
  • You will ensure maintenance is completed in line with an agreed maintenance program 
  • You will directly manage production staff & ensure staff are trained to operate the line including raw materials, controls operation, maintenance, packaging & dispatch 
  • You will ensure environmental, Health & Safety procedures are up to date
  • You will create monthly budget and scheduling reports 

Skills required: 

  • Strong experience Operating a Production Manufacturing Environment 
  • Strong experience in managing & leading teams 
  • Experienced in using manufacturing software 
  • Experienced in budget management 
  • Knowledge of Environmental, Health & Safety compliance
