Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing are working with our Dundee & Angus Manufacturing client who are adding to their growing team for a Packaging Strucural Designer either experienced or at Graduate level.

The purpose of the role is to come up with creative rigid box designs - our client are looking for someone with experience in a design function in a packaging environment or a graduate with a creative degree such as Product Design.
The role involves
- Production of prototypes and samples to satisfy a customer briefs
- Manage technical projects to ensure all relevant timelines are met
- Attend meetings with Customers or Suppliers
- Meeting customers targets
- Collaborate with NPD New Product Development
- Maintain CAD administration
- Work with Computer Aided Design (CAD) databases
- Ensure designs created are fit for purpose for production
- Create new concepts
- Keep up to date with current trends, materials and technology
- A close working relationship with the Customer Services Team and Business Development Managers is crucial
- Contact and communication with other Design teams
- Develop and maintain effective internal and external customer relationships
- Assist team with various projects they may be working on to meet and complete projects
- Report and manage department’s Key Performance Indicators
Professional Qualification Required
- A product or design related qualification
Skills required
- Minimum of 3 years construction designer experience (gained within the print packaging industry would be advantageous)
- Working knowledge of CAD.
- Working knowledge of sample cutting tables & their uses.
- Familiarity with the different material specifications
- Good understanding of manufacturing & customer assembly processes.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced & high volume manufacturing environment
