Mechanical Fitter (Fabricator)

The North British Distillery company are one of the UKs largest grain Whisky producers current going through a journey of change. The company is steeped in heritage and they are extremely proud of their history and core company values. 

An excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter has arisen to join their Maintenance Team, reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager you will be part of a smaller team and provide fitting, fabricating & welding support to ensure smooth running of the Distillery Plant whilst adhering to strict health & safety within a top tier COMAH regulated facility.

You must be able to think on your feet, be proactive and have the autonomy to come up with solutions & improvements. 

The Role: 

  • You will ensure all engineering equipment & maintenance operations meet the health & safety requirements 
  • You will conduct engineering maintenance tasks including overhaul, repair & testing of all engineering equipment including fabrication & support 
  • You will Develop mechanical PPM routines 
  • You will troubleshoot equipment issues and find Root Cause of plant equipment 
  • You will manage and operate CMMS 
  • You will conduct Installations of engineering equipment 
  • You will liaise with stakeholders across the business including production & operations and make recommendations on equipment

Skills required:

  • You must fit into North British core values of Safe Working; Working Together; Continuous Improvement; Customer Satisfaction & Excellence Through Quality 
  • You will be proactive & bring enthusiasm to the team with a positive attitude 
  • You will have EITB/City & Guilds or equivalent time served Engineering Apprenticeship 
  • You will have welding & fabrication skills using TIG, MIG & ARC
  • You will have good understanding of HSE legislation 
  • You will have experience in Permit to Work systems, Risk Assessments & Method Statements
