Nine Twenty Engineering have a fantastic opportunity for 2 Mechanical Design Engineers to take a role with a global leader in the manufacturing food production equipment client based in West Lothian.

The main function of the role will be to execute design related to customer orders, support the organisation sales request and together with the department/team have technical responsibility for the equipment within the DD product lines. In this scope the design documentation should be kept up to date, improvements be implemented, quality levels and cost secured.

Reporting to the Engineering manager, the successful candidate will have worked within a design and manufacturing environment and have past experience in this area,This is a hands on role based within the manufacturing facility.

The position holder will also be expected to provide experience and knowledge to the management team with regards to technical expertise and practises. Further the post holder will help to ensure that internal processes adhere to Company Policy and applicable standards.

For the products:

  • Execute project orders related design work
  • Execute the mechanical design work according to the team’s processes and routines and ensure that all required documentation is produced
  • Develop and maintain order specific as well as generic designs, function descriptions and manuals.
  • Implement and consider applicable standards related to safety, CE- requirements, traceability of food contact and other.
  • Participate in and execute relentless continuous improvements for equipment and work processes
    • Participate in design reviews and other quality related exercises
    • Cooperate with internal and external partners to ensure that the designs meet customer's, internal and legal requirements, regarding function, manufacturing, assembly and maintenance.
    • Follow the agreed work plans and dead-lines for the ongoing projects and activities in accordance to the company’s quality policy.
  • Ensure that the work is done in agreement with the company’s procedures and rules (Ethics, IT etc…)

Primary Objectives

  • Design customised equipment for the food industry in accordance to functional and quality requirements
  • Improve the equipment capability and quality over time
  • Work closely together with manufacturing and other departments.

REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS AND ABILITIES)

  • All round understanding of the engineering work and requirements related to this including calculations, CAD, simulations, manufacturing methods, project work.
  • IT skills to include experiences with Microsoft Office and engineering specific tools.
  • Excellent skill to collaborate with a cross-functional teams.
  • Understanding of financial impact of the engineering work.
  • Communication skills at all levels internally and externally.

Education and Experience

  • Degree in a Mechanical Design Engineering field
  • Relevant experience of similar engineering work
  • Hands on experience of Inventor (or Creo) and Windchill is an advantage.
