Nine Twenty is delighted to be recruiting an Linux Engineer/Administrator for our client in Edinburgh at their fantastic new offices with spectacular views of the Castle and city.
We are seeking a Linux System Engineer/Administrator who has a strong interest in moving into DevOps.
The right candidate will have the opportunity to learn valuable skills as we seek to automate much of the estate maintenance.
The role will also include server management, security updates, responding pro-actively to security threats and general troubleshooting. You will also be expected to assist the rest of the IT team in responding to problem tickets, supporting our operational control-room, and our engineering team.
There will be an opportunity to receive training in automated configuration management, software provisioning, and application deployment.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Technical Skills:
- 3 years’ experience as a Linux System Administrator or high-level Technical Support.
- Network configuration experience, with a particular emphasis on security.
- Knowledge of at least one scripting language used in Linux system automation. (e.g. Bash, Perl, Python)
Additional Bonus Skills
- Working experience with source control, particularly Git.
- Good technical written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate complex technical subjects to a non-technical audience.
