Our client cares about the environment and is at the forefront of cutting edge technology for the green building sector. We are now looking for an experienced Senior Database Engineer to help design, coordinate and implement new database infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Database queries
- Database design
- Requirements capture and analysis from internal and external stakeholders.
Skills:
Essential:
- Excellent skills in designing & implementing databases
- Experience capturing and analysing user requirements
- Experience in writing / capturing requirements in the form of specifications
- Experience with relational databases, including writing and debugging SQL, stored procedures, functions and triggers
- Performance tuning and query optimisation experience
- Windows platform experience (Linux desirable)
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Advise on backup and upgrade strategies.
Desirable:
- Load balancing
- Embedded databases
- NoSQL databases, data warehousing
- Experience with one of the following programming languages: C++, C# or Python
- Experience with website and web API development.
Education:
- A degree in computing or a related scientific degree
