Celtic Renewables is widely regarded as one of the most innovative Biotech companies in Europe, who have developed a patented low-carbon technology that converts biological residues into high value low carbon sustainable bio-chemicals using an inspirational reinvention of a century old process known as the Acetone-Butanol-Ethanol (ABE) fermentation, to bring this age old fermentation back to the global scale.  The sustainable biochemicals produced by this innovative process can be utilised across a broad spectrum of much needed green products from biofuel, to cosmetics, food flavourings, hygiene and pharmaceuticals.  This pioneering company has completed the first stage of construction of their first state of the art processing plant in Grangemouth, a historical exemplar plant for Scotland, and are already in the process of plant commissioning.

Celtic Renewables are excited to recruit for a Lab Technician who will be working closely with Fermentation & Microbiology teams supporting the Research & Development strategy. You will carry out experimental protocols and conduct lab analysis, contributing to large research projects. You will collate data & be responsible for the Lab stock control.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting experiments, equipment testing & plant trials
  • Operation & method development in Gas Chromatography and Liquid Chromatography 
  • Recording data on the company database for the Lab
  • Carrying out Lab Stock Control
  • Maintaining good housekeeping

Skills required:

  • Experienced in operating & maintaining key analytical equipment - HPLC & GC is essential
  • Have an understanding off H&S & COSHH protocols in a Laboratory environment is essential
  • Previous experience working within a Microbiological or Biochemical Laboratory is essential
  • Be self-motivated, proactive & adaptable with excellent communication skills & be able to work independently is essential
  • Experience of lab administration is desirable
  • Previous Industrial Microbiological experience is desirable 
  • Good understanding of the ABE Fermentation process is desirable
