Front of House Assistant 

Bowmore, Isle of Islay 


Nine Twenty are supporting our global client, Beam Suntory, in the need for a number of Front of House staff to join their team permanently at The Harbour Inn, Bowmore.

Beam Suntory is a World Leader in Premium Spirits with two centuries of family heritage. The Spirits Industry is a dynamic and fast paced business and you will be part of Global Company whilst also being part of a local community on the Isle of Islay.

You will report to the Operations Supervisor and you will ensure the smooth operation of Front of House to allow an excellent customer experience. 

The Role:

  • Setting and clearing dining areas for service – breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Bar service
  • Restaurant service including taking orders, serving meals and processing bills
  • Setting and clearing for meetings, conferences and private functions
  • Updating customer invoices
  • Checking in and out guests for the hotel and self-catering cottages
  • Updating specials on the board and on the till daily
  • Maintaining clean and tidy public areas
  • Cleaning, setting, lighting fires in public areas
  • Cashing up at end of shift
  • Processing banking through Hotel admin system
  • Taking bookings for restaurant, hotel rooms and self-catering accommodation
  • Weekly ordering – bar, breakfast, tea, coffee supplies
  • Ensuring H&S checks are completed as scheduled – legionella, Fire Safety, etc
  • Updating the daily diary with relevant hand over information
  • Attending team meetings and leading team projects as required
  • Accepting and organizing deliveries
  • Updating and maintaining the contractor log – calling in contractors as required for general repairs and maintenance
  • Suggesting and implementing continual improvements to enhance the customer experience
  • Drive and passion for delivering excellent customer service and experience 
  • Host food and whisky experiences
  • Liaise with kitchen daily to understand new dishes to menu and any focus areas to concentrate on during service
  • Liaise with housekeeping team on check ins / check outs and any other needs of guests
  • Work across departments as required
