JOB PURPOSE

To provide engineering support to the engineering team by ensuring that all machinery is monitored.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Engineering/ Technical Expertise:

  • Provide support to the Engineering department by liaising with suppliers to order parts as required and control the stores system, ensuring stock levels are maintained
  • PC literate to control all invoicing and purchase order raising via the corporate software systems in place
  • Control of contractors, ensuring site inductions completed and any required permits to work are issued and controlled
  • Control condition monitoring of factory equipment
  • Use of workshop tools and equipment
  • Co-ordination of apprentices

Health and Safety:

  • Adhere to Company Safety, Hygiene, Environmental & Quality policies and procedures
  • Create and maintain a safe and clean environment for people working in the workshop and other Engineering areas
  • Ensure all working areas are kept safe and free from any hazards

QUALIFICATONS

  • Minimum ONC mechanical & production engineering or equivalent relevant experience

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum 3 years engineering experience preferably gained within a manufacturing/print or packaging environment with a good technical understanding of machinery and raw material interaction
  • A good working knowledge of engineering control systems
  • Good interpersonal and people management skills
  • A robust knowledge of production environment and technology; from raw materials through to finished products
  • Working knowledge of quality standards and their importance in the production process
  • Good understanding of processes within a print packaging environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to challenge status quo and motivate others to embrace change
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • A working knowledge of Technical/ Quality processes and procedures
  • Self motivation with the ability to think individually with well reasoned decision making qualities
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced & high volume manufacturing environment
  • Commercial aware of the cost of waste, machine performance and absenteeism etc
  • Flexibility in both thought and action, offering proactive, creative solutions and improvements

  • Good attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to use own initiative, work within a team as well as work on your own
