Electrical and Control Engineering Manager

An excellent opportunity for an Electrical and Control Engineering Manager has arisen reporting directly to Engineering manager based at their site in Edinburgh.


 Overall purpose of Role:

  • Lead, support and coordinate the electrical team to work together safely and efficiently to deliver the budgeted performance in accordance with an agreed plans, controlling costs to, or better than, budget.
  • Responsible person for application of electrical, control and automation standards and practices on the distillery site.
  • The remit of this role covers responsibility from an 11kV incomer at one end of the spectrum, through to discrete single instruments, including power distribution and process control (PLCS and SCADA).


Skills & Experience:

  • Degree qualified in an Electrical Engineering discipline
  • Familiar with current electrical regulations, codes and safe working practices
  • Proven experience in leading and managing Control Systems, PLC & HMI programming
  • Experience of supporting the introduction of new technology
  • Proven successes as a leader with responsibility for internal teams in a process manufacturing environment    
  • Previous experience of management of third party service providers including contractual and commercial awareness
  • An ability to achieve a site-wide understanding of the manufacturing process


Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all controls and instrumentation equipment in accordance with Company health and safety requirements, in compliance with current legislation whilst maintaining a safe working environment for employees
  • Continuously analyse current control philosophies and processes and provide recommendations of improvement
  • Primary point of contact for manufacturing relating to electrical and controls updates and changes
  • Develop data management to improve accessibility to internal and external control systems
  • Analyse technology, resource requirements, and market demands to plan and assess the feasibility of controls projects.
  • Drive and implement rigorous quality standards for all aspects of the electrical and automation systems
  • Collaborate with technical and project teams to ensure consistency of standards of new installations
  • Any other duties that may reasonably be required in line with your contractual role
