Laphroaig Distillery - Isle of Islay 


Nine Twenty are delighted to be partnering with our client Beam Suntory in their need for a Distillery Manager to join their Laphroaig Distillery on the Isle of Islay. 

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Distillery Manager who has previous experience of managing large distillery functions, who can bring project management experience and be involved in expansion projects to the distilling & maturation functions whilst bringing a strong leadership style with the ability to coach, train & develop a distillery team. 

This role will bring a mix of Continuous Improvement, Evolution, Operational and Strategic elements. 

The Role: 

  • You will manage all aspects of Distillery Operations on the Laphroaig Site 
  • You will lead, motivate & develop distillery teams 
  • You will promote a culture of Lean & Continuous Improvement 
  • You will develop Laphroaig site objectives 
  • You will review & Develop the sites Integrated Management Systems
  • You will ensure compliance of all HMRC regulations 
  • You will provide support to the Senior Manager - Scotch Distillation and Maturation Operations 
  • You will participate in the development of Laphroaig NPD 
  • You will support brand marketing and promotional activities 
  • You will be a Brand Ambassador for the site and company
  • You will contribute to Islay Distilleries on call Rota 
  • You will liaise with internal and external stakeholders agreeing on SLA's
  • You will manage the site budget 

Skills required: 

  • An experienced Distillery Manager with experience managing a large distillery - broad knowledge of malting, mashing, fermentation and distillation and maturation operations 
  • A strong leader who can coach. lead and develop a distillery team 
  • Good knowledge of HMRC regulations & HSE 
  • Good knowledge of ISO systems 
  • Ability to manage employee and industrial relationships 
  • Ability to manage external relationships such as HMRC, HSE, SEPA etc
