Nine Twenty are proud to be working in Partnership with The North British Distillery with an exciting new role for a Dayshift Instrumentation Engineer for their large Distillery in Edinburgh.

You will have the chance to work with one of Scotland's oldest and largest Scotch grain whisky producers. The North British Distillery is known for its distillation and maturation processes, producing grain spirit, which serves as the base for blended whisky.

You will be responsible for assisting the Company’s Engineering Team by efficiently and effectively maintaining the operation of all controls and instrumentation equipment on site.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that all controls and Instrumentation equipment and operations on site meet the necessary health and safety requirements, complying with current legislation to maintain a safe working environment for employees.
  • Maintaining an awareness of the regulatory and Company standards that apply to the role such as HMRC, COMAH and H&S. COMAH specific - Understand and act in accordance with the Site Emergency Response Plan in the event of an evacuation or major incident, and regularly participate in COMAH improvement activity.
  • Performing routine calibration tasks to overhaul, repair and test all instrumentation equipment.
  • Development of instrumentation related Planned Preventive Maintenance routines.
  • Troubleshooting any controls related breakdowns or anomalies across the plant, taking corrective action where required.
  • Close communication with internal and external resources to provide an efficient and effective service to manufacturing
  • Building and aiding in the designing of new controls systems.
  • Operation of the Company’s Maintenance Management System (MAXIMO), ensuring the robust collection and analysis of availability and operating data on key assets to demonstrate that performance standards are being achieved and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Maintaining good housekeeping standards across site on a day-to-day basis.
  • Maintaining and adhering to a clear vision of the Company’s business objectives and cultural standards when executing all site controls and instrumentation developments.
  • Liaising with production and operation departments to provide maintenance services and making recommendations for improvement when required.
  • Any other duties that may reasonably be required in line with your contractual role.

Skills & experience required:

  • A confident and experienced Engineer, familiar with maintenance of assets in a manufacturing environment. Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, with a focus on flexibility and efficiency. Prioritises a safety-conscious approach to all activities
  • Time served / Degree qualified Engineer
  • COMAH experience highly desirable
  • Working knowledge of HSE Legislation
  • Experienced in Permit to Work Systems, Risk Assessments & Method Statements
