Nine Twenty Technology is delighted to be recruiting a Data Scientist on behalf of their technology consultant in Glasgow.

The Data Scientist role will develop high profile and high value solutions for our clients by developing innovative and pragmatic data centric solutions that deliver business insights.

A Data Scientist will utilise their technical and consulting skills to lead customer engagements, and:

  • Work with clients to understand and define their data landscape and how it relates to their business;
  • Manipulate and analyse complex, large scale highly dimensional data heterogeneous data sets and apply analytics including classification, clustering and anomaly detection techniques;
  • Lead proof of concept engagements to prove technical solutions or algorithms;
  • Own the design, development and execution of production level solutions utilising big data and cloud technologies;
  • Produce high data analysis reports;
  • Undertake data analysis to produce analytical models and data transformations;
  • Produce high quality communications and presentations of models and analysis to clients and colleagues;
  • Help set the direction of the Intelligence practice, including the vision, strategy and structure.

The successful candidate will have excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills coupled with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team, delivering a wide range of services to our clients. In addition, they will possess skills and expertise including:

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence clients and colleagues;
  • Strong skills in R or Python;
  • Significant experience and skill in SQL, Data Warehousing, BI and ELT and ETL;
  • Strong programming and scripting skills;
  • Experience in the use and application of big data systems (MPP, data mining, HPC, distributed databases, etc.)
  • Expert level skill in analysing and manipulating multiple complex data sets;
  • Skilled at statistical modelling, predictive modelling or machine learning;
  • Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis, statistical models and algorithms in a concise and clear manner, often to a non-technical audience;
  • Expertise in cloud computing and data storage and its application to data science (particularly Microsoft Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake and Power BI)
