Construction Supervisor

Nine Twenty Recruitment are delighted to be working with one of our long standing and high profile clients to source a Construction Supervisor for a long term freelance position within their business.
The Role:
Our client is investing heavily in strategic projects at our distilleries and processing sites, with a focus on sustainability and capacity. The Construction Supervisor will be a key part of the project team responsible for delivering the strategic vision. The Construction Supervisor will work on major capital projects across multiple sites, with a specific responsibility for delivering the construction phase of projects safely and on-time.
This is a new role, with the opportunity to develop existing construction management processes, bring best practice, and share knowledge and experience.
Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for the on-site delivery of major capital projects during construction and commissioning phase.

Responsible for delivering safely, on time, and on budget.

Setting safety and quality standards on site.

Managing contractors across all disciplines.

Creation and delivery of daily and weekly plans.

Reporting progress to project engineering team.
-
Resolving technical issues and raising technical queries with Engineering.

Liaison with site engineering teams.
-
Control of on-site work, creating and issuing permits.

Carrying out management audits of the work site.

Overseeing QA/QC processing for installation.

Managing snagging list and completions.
Required Experience, Skills, and Behaviour:
-
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in process plant engineering/mechanical construction industry.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in site supervisory/management role in mechanical construction environment.

Minimum of HND in Mechanical Discipline.

Apprenticeship/time-served or Degree Qualified (BEng).
-
Strong influencing and communication skills, ability to communicate across all levels.

Enthusiastic and able to lead/motivate on site teams, including contractors and sub-contractors.

Current IOSH/NEBOSH qualification.

Strong health and safety leadership skills, knowledge of Health and Safety Law and regulations applicable to construction sites (importantly: CDM, LOLER, PUWER, COSHH, DSEAR).

Commitment to H&S performance, zero tolerance approach to unsafe behaviour/conditions

Understanding of project management, planning, budgeting, cost control.

Experience in monitoring and preparing written reports of progress and costs against plans/schedules.

In-depth understanding of change management process and control.

Understanding of technical query/deviation control.

Logical and proactive approach to problem solving, able to solve issues within competence/level of authority and identify issues which require escalation.

Proficient and experienced in reading/interpreting P&IDs, piping isometrics, fabrication drawings, lifting diagrams.

Familiarity with other engineering disciplines and their respective design documents; Civils, Electrical, Instrumentation & Control
