The role

Supervise the safe and compliant processing of material delivered to the depot.

Main Responsibilities:

Ensure correct fulfilment and delivery of plant production programmes, adhering to Health and Safety, Quality and Environment policies and managing his/her team effectively and in a motivational working environment.

  • Safe operation of the site through the utilisation of Risk Assessments, Safe Operating Procedures and delivery of Toolbox Talks
  • Supervising the safe and compliant operation a processing facility
  • Mechanical maintenance and repairs of fixed plant
  • Supervising a team of operators and improving performance
  • Meeting and exceeding site KPIs
  • Ensuring site customer service meets or exceeds business requirements
  • Carry out of Management of Absence procedures in line with Company Policy
  • Continuous improvement and implementation of approved changes
  • Deputising for the Shift Manager in their absence

Specific Tasks but not limited to:

  • Implementation of and compliance with all company administrative policies
  • Driving the performance of the Paper Sorting Line to ensure all KPIs are met
  • Ensure samples of material are taken and processed in a timely manner
  • Ensure PMNC’s are undertaken for all loads
  • Ensure material is baled and stored correctly in a timely manner
  • Deliver a quality of material that meets the specification of the recycling outlets
  • Undertake mechanical maintenance and assessment of the plant to ensure that the plant availability is maintained
  • Delivery a good standard of housekeeping and ensure that the plant is handover over to the next shift in a safe and compliant manner
  • Ensure the site complies with relevant regulations from both a Health and Safety and Environment point of view
  • Delivery of quality material from production processes
  • Monitoring and controlling production
  • Working and supervising within a Shift System

Professional experience:

  • Production Experience
  • Demonstrable Management skills
  • Maintenance of process equipment
  • Experience of interacting with Regulatory Organisations
  • Experienced in managing within a regulated industry
  • Experienced in ISO accredited Management Systems
  • Financial Experience – working knowledge of profit and loss
  • Preparation of Risk Assessments and Safe Working Procedure

Specific training:

  • Forklift Truck
  • Telehandler
  • Full driving license
  • Mechanical Fitter

Q.S.E. knowledge/ training:

  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • COTC (desirable)
