A newly created position as Distillery Operations Leader for a leading manufacturing organisation who are growing and driving change to adapt to the changes. Reporting to the Distilleries Manager the Distillery Operations Leader will lead, direct, and support the shift operator team to effectively meet all designated aspects of production, health, safety & environmental activity. They will ensure the delivery of key results in line with distilleries production strategy, whilst ensuring all operations adhere to relevant legislation/guidance.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Direction and leadership of the shift operator teams, providing supervision and taking responsibility for team member activity, regulatory compliance, and execution of the distillery production plan.
  • Be accountable for the application & analysis of suitable performance indicators, to ensure distillery operations maintain acceptable control over quality, cost, and safety.
  • Leads by example and with a hands-on approach, be visible on plant rounds checking stable operations, troubleshooting potential processing issues, and driving acceptable site standards.
  • Accountable for the development of continuous improvement initiatives that deliver value in cost of make, customer service and quality.
  • Lead, motivate and develop team members in line with company values to maximise employee engagement.
  • Build and develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment of business objectives.
  • Manage competency of the operator teams through development & application of agreed competency standards, including all training & assessment requirements.
  • Maintain & improve the documented standard operating procedures, operating manuals, safe systems of work, etc, to enable the safe, stable & efficient operation of the process plant.
  • Support development & delivery of the distillery strategic 5-year capital plan.

To be successful for this position, you should have/be:

  • Educated to degree level in either Chemistry/Science/Brewing/Distilling discipline or Chemical/Mechanical Engineering or Acquired competency through significant experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of equipment and all process operations.
  • Proven leader who can set objectives, performance manage a team and develop individuals to achieve their potential.
  • Demonstrate significant technical competence in the Distilling/ Brewing/ Pharmaceutical/ Petrochemical industries.
  • Microsoft office competency
