The Background

Beezer was founded in November 2014 by Brian Smillie: “Having been involved in the digital landscape for over 10 years, I was challenged on a number of occasions by clients wishing to develop and deploy an App into the market. The client often underestimated the cost, timescale and marketing resources required to make the App a success. All too often launching their App on one of the App stores only to find that the App lay there dormant with little or no interaction.

“This led to the question – ‘WHY AM I PAYING THE APP STORE UP TO 30% OF MY REVENUE GENERATED THROUGH THE APP?’ It was this question that inspired the establishment of Beezer….”

The current team behind the platform comprises of:

Brian Smillie - Founder and CEO

The Founder of the business who is a highly successful Manager who has proven track record of delivering bottom line results. Having achieved success in new start-up business ventures I am now looking to the next challenge where I can put the knowledge that I have gained in the digital marketing and sales arenas to good use. I have a proven track record of delivering positive profit enhancement through sales growth and by building a strong team around me, which are able to deliver sustainable success.

Ian Russell – Financial Director

A qualified hands on CA, Ian was the driving force behind the expansion of the Caledonian Group and was responsible for brokering a unique Middle Eastern alliance with Al Mazaya Holdings who are listed on both Kuwait and Dubai financial markets. In 2008, he was appointed CEO of Mazaya Investments Ltd, a DFSA regulated fund management company, part of the 1 billion USD listed Al Mazaya Group.

In 2013, he was appointed finance director of AppearToMe, an Intellectual Property company, operating in Europe, India, China and the United States. His experience as an Associate Director of Rangers Football Club, Ian is well placed to promote the Hermes platform in the football community.

Brian Smillie (Snr) – Sales Director and Company Secretary

An experienced Director having held the position of CEO, Sales Director and NED, he brings a breadth of experience in developing delivering clear and achievable sales strategies across a wide portfolio of sectors. His previous experience in selling white label solutions into major multinationals will assist greatly in attracting sales on ISP provider sites.

Steven Leach – Mentor and Investor

A serial entreprenuer, Steve sits on the Boards of many IT companies including Comic Relief (IT Portfolio) and brings a significant wealth of experience of; establishing, growing and successfully exiting a number of IT focused businesses. Beezer expect to be able to leverage Steve's experience and established relationships to assist in growing the Beezer business 

Kenny Fraser – Mentor and NED.

A Non Executive Director, board level advisor and mentor with over 20 years experience in mobile and digital. Beezer expect Kenny to be able to take advantage of mobile and digital technologies. Until recently, an equity partner in PwC operating in the UK and internationally within the mobile and telecommunications sectors. With expertise in strategic development for mobile and digital businesses and expertise in the application of mobile and digital technologies we are confident that Kenny's knowledge will continue to benefit the business.

Fiona McKelvie – Commercial Director

Currently a Director of English Boxing and previously Director of third party relationships at SKY Fiona brings a wealth of experience in Digital Marketing and broadcast partnerships, an area that the business will be focusing on going forward.

The key competitive advantage for Beezer will be our ability to deploy the technology quickly to the market and become a very disruptive tool. To ensure this happens effectively and delivers to its full potential, we will ensure the people behind the solution having a thorough understanding of applications and technical development, with a clear focus on the market and client needs.

The CEO has already initiated discussions with numerous organisations which has delivered significant interest and enthusiastic clients.

The company’s offering will be across two principal distribution methods;

  1.  Provision of a SAAS Platform (Software As A Service) that will allow ANYONE to build an App even if they have zero development or design experience/skills. The platform will allow individuals to build a sophisticated App simply and quickly. The SAAS platform will also allow individuals or developers to plug and play a vast array of assets such as;
